Word Blending: When blending words, use letter cards that have been reviewed.

Hold up m and say "/mm/". Hold up a and say /aa/. Hold up p and say /p/.
Ask your child to place the letters on the table or in a pocket chart.
Point to m and say /mm/. Point to a and say /aa/. Have your child do the same.
Slide a next to m. Run your hand under the letters as you elongate and blend the sounds. Example: /mmaa/. Have your child do the same.
Point to p and say /p/. Slide p next to ma. Run your hand under map and blend the sounds. Example: /mmaap/. Have your child do the same.
Read the word map naturally. Have your child read the word with you as you slide your finger under the word. Then have your child slide their finger under the word and read the sounds together to read the complete word.
Writing: Upper and lower case letters.

Blend words and practice writing a sentence with the words blended in each lesson.
