Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade are assessed in specific areas of basic skills that are researched and proven to be indicators of reading success. Each measure is a measure of how fluent the student is in each skill area.Students in all Citrus County Schools are assessed using these measures. At IPS each of our students is individually assessed four times a year in order to monitor their growth as well as to find areas of specific need. The data is entered into a statewide computerized system that generates reports for the use of the classroom teachers and reading teachers. Our teachers use these reports and the data they contain to plan instruction for small groups.
