Classroom News!

 

For show n' tell this year we are using themes.  On my monthly calendar you will see the theme for that week.  Your child just needs to bring in an object that goes along with that theme. Our cooking activity also goes along with that theme.

My third through fifth graders are focusing on writing this year.  We keep a daily journal.  You can help your child with this activity by having them give you ideas about a topic.  Then have them use each idea in a complete sentence.  Focus on topic and details in the sentences.  So far they have done an excellent job and really enjoy writing in them!

Please check the monthly calendar for events that are happening in our school and classroom.

To help your child at home you can read to them or have them read to you.  Work on letter sounds and recognizing letters as you're driving down the road.  Some students have spelling words they need to practice daily and others have words they are reading and signing.  Have your child identify coins when you are checking out at a store.  Let them count out the currency.  You can have your child tell you what time it is or have them tell you when it is a certain time.  All of these types of things will give them practice with the type of things we are learning at school.

 

In your child's Friday folder you will find a parent bulletin.  That needs to be signed and returned and the papers can be kept at home.  Please return the folder on Monday.  Also check your child's planner each night and sign at the bottom so I know you have seen it.
