ESE Specialist
Welcome to the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) portion of our Inverness Primary School website. My name is Jana Flaherty, and I am the ESE Specialist here at IPS. I provide a broad spectrum of services for students, teachers, and parents.
I coordinate the testing and staffing for students identified as gifted and those identified with disabilities. Every student with a disability who is eligible for ESE will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Those who are eligible for the Gifted program will have an education plan (EP). An IEP and an EP are written plans for the special education of a student. A team of people, which I facilitate, write an Individual Education Plan or Education Plan and decide which special services and supports your child needs in order to make progress. Once these plans are created, I maintain them and any re-evaluation testing needed. Some of the services we offer are Speech Therapy, Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Transportation, Inclusion, Voluntary Pre kindergarten, and REACH.
